Being a peninsula city surrounded by seas on its three sides and known as“Window of the Northeast" and“Pearl of the North", Dalian is located in the southernmost tip of Northeast China, near the Yellow Sea in the east and the Bohai Sea in the west, facing the Shandong Peninsula in the south across the sea and connecting with the northeast mainland in the north. The whole area of the city of Dalian is 1 2573 .85 square kilometers, of which the urban area is 2 414. 96 square kilometers, having a population of 5 900 000, among which the urban population is 2 530 000. The coastline of the entire area of Dalian is as long as 1 906 kilometers, accounting for 73% of the total length of the coastline of Liaoning Province, of which land coastlines are 1 288 kilometers long and waterfront lines are as long as 618 kilometers. 

大連位于中國東北的最南端，東臨黃海，西鄰渤海，南與山東半島隔海相望，北與東北大陸相連，是一座三面環(huán)海的半島城市，素有“東北之窗”、“北方明珠”之稱。全市總面積1 2573. 85平方公里，其中市區(qū)面積2 414.96平方公里;人口590萬，市區(qū)人口253萬。大連全地區(qū)海岸線長1 906公里，占遼寧省海岸線總長度的73 %，其中陸地海岸線1 288公里，海島岸線618公里。

Dalian municipality has jurisdiction over 6 districts，3 county-level cities and I county. Dalian Economic Development Zone, Dalian Free Trade Zone, Dalian Hi tech Industrial Zone and the Golden Pebble Beach (Jinshitan) National Holiday Re-sort are key zones that have been shaped since the time Dalian was open to the outside world, and thus, it is taking the lead in opening up to the outside world.

Being a peninsula city, Dalian has a warm temperate zone continental monsoon climate with the characteristics of oceanity. The weather here is pleasant, and the four seasons are distinct with the winter being not severely cold and without in-tense heat in summer. The average temperature of the year here is 10℃, and the total precipitation is 550~950 millimeters. In summer, especially, Dalian is a summer resort that one would yearn for.

Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport has opened 7 international and 43 domestic airways, its scheduled flight communicating several times every day with Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangdong, etc.. inside the country, it has 3 national-level and 3 provincial-level highways. The routes of the airport extend in all directions, having the shipping intercourse with harbors of more than 150 foreign countries and districts. 

大連周水子國際機場己開通國際航線7條，國內(nèi)航線43條，與京、滬、粵、等地每天都有數(shù)次航班來往。境內(nèi)有國道公路3條，省級公路3條。航線四通八達(dá)，與150多個國家與地區(qū)的港口有航運往來。
